Why R4 Card Not Working on DSi XL

June 25th, 2010 Filed Under NDS Tips

Recently, some dsi xl players reflect that their r4i sdhc card could not work on their new DSi XL console (UK model). When being inserted, it just says “error etc please check dsi manual”.

Generally speaking, this problem happened due to the following reason.

It’s an R4 clone.

Don’t buy anything with “R4″ on it or you’ll just end up back here trying to figure out how to resolve issues for your particular clone while wading through the solutions for other clone carts. It’s not worth your cash or trouble, and it saves the GBAtemp community the hassle of fixing your problems for you if you just buy a reliable cart, like an Acekard 2i. The DSi XL has the same firmware as the regular DSi. If a box is advertising that it works on a DSi XL, they’re trying to take advantage of your ignorance about DSi firmwares, because any cart that works on DSi 1.4 will also work on a DSi XL. Do some more reading, and avoid anything that says “R4″ at all costs.

This is a very common problem. So when you are considering to buy  a flash card, I strongly recommend you buy an Acekard 2i. It works better than R4 card.
